Some very few tables, the Berlin artist Paul Dierkes has made mostly for friends. We bought the table from a lady of over 90, who bought the furniture directly from Paul Dierkes in the late 1950s. Dierkes at that time was a professor at the Berlin College of Fine Arts, department of wood and stone. The sculptor Paul Dierkes is today considered one of the most important German sculptors and graphic artists of the post-war period. One of his most famous works hangs in the Berliner Gedächtniskirche by Egon Eiermann, the Jesus sculpture above the altar.
