about this Object:

Based on a design by the Austrian Bruno Weill (aka BEWE), director of Thonet France in Paris, Thonet first published the B 282 model in 1930. In 1935, Bruno Weill even produced a convertible desk model with up to 14 different setups to meet the needs of the user to fulfill as well as possible. Our B 282 model looks very elegant and is based on the French Art Deco style of the time in terms of the asymmetrical division and the plate inserted into the top of the tubes. Overall, the furniture has been well preserved, the wood structure is clearly visible under the matt black finish.

For documentation on this desk, see the illustration in the original Thonet 1930 plug-in card catalog from our reference library, as well as a copy of a Thonet Berlin leaflet from around 1930.
