The armchair according to the design of the Bauhausler and head of the Weimar State University of Applied Sciences, Erich Dieckmann, was in a private collection of an architect in West Germany. Erich Dieckmann was one of the most influential personalities of furniture in Germany. One guiding principle of him was: "The character of the chair is most clearly visible from its side view [...]. The front view cannot provide any information. So the sentence applies: The character of the chair is determined by its profile." This principle becomes clear using the example of our armchair, the soft, dynamically increasing upswing of the foot construction at the front, as the resting bearing of the ergonomically shaped seat shell. Dieckmann was particularly close as a material and was used in many of his stool or armchair designs. Erich Dieckmann Möbel is rarely on offer today, especially steel pipe furniture regularly finds the highest rating.
