We offer 2 low armchairs by Peter Ghyczy, produced by Rolf Fehlbaum, who has been the head of VITRA since 1977. The furniture is very interesting for various reasons: The material polyurethane foam could be liquidized into any shape and cooled to great stability. PU furniture is usually painted in light brown. The molded foam cushions with the stretch cover adapt ideally to the biomorphic shape of the seat shell. In terms of form, the armchairs are a sensation and comparable to the cosmos of shapes of Luigi Colani. Peter Ghyczy and his work are far less known, but still very interesting. One of his most famous designs is the "garden egg" which was manufactured in the former GDR after the PU processing technology was taken over from the FRG.
