Fred Ruf designed the elegant day bed in 1951 for Wohnbedarf AG in Zurich. It is shaped entirely in the style of the new era, the bed rests lightly on the curved tubular steel legs. The curved brackets on the narrow sides are made of solid ash wood. Wohnbedarf AG was the source for modern housing needs in Switzerland after the war. The range of carefully curated "living needs" in the shops in Zurich and Basel spread far beyond Switzerland and helped shape the trend throughout Europe.

good original condition
very few signs of wear. We offer this unusual day bed from a Swiss private collection, designed by Fred Ruf 1951 for Wohnbedarf. The condition, as is so often the case with Swiss furniture, can be described as very good. No wonder, since the production quality is first class and the furniture is very well cared for. The rich black high-gloss finish of the frame still shines with the fresh colors it did 70 years ago, all surfaces are still original. For reasons of hygiene, we deliver the day bed without a cushion. A mattress measuring 190 x 90 cm is easily available today.
