about this Object:
The very rare, elegant armchair "48" by Franco Albini and Franca Helg comes with a very good provenance. The reopening of the traditional "Bücherstube Marga Schöller" after the renovation by the architect Hermann Fehling on Kurfürstendamm attracted international attention. The new temple of books was furnished in the modern style of the time with furniture from the renowned manufacturer KNOLL INTERNATIONAL based on designs by well-known architects. The new furnishings were published in the April 1954 issue of the magazine "INNENDEKORATION" by Alexander Koch. The armchair "48" was the last remaining piece from this furnishing. In the meantime, the bookshop had to move to Knesebeckstrasse, where it can still be found today.
