Poul Henningsen began to conceive and implement his idea of developing completely glare-free lights in the mid-twenties. Profound knowledge of the light perception of the human eye and the preference for a functional design led to a whole system of luminaires with over 1000 different models. There is hardly a lighting situation that cannot be designed and mastered with a PH - this is the name that all luminaires have in the model name. Louis Poulsen still produces these lamps in Denmark and new models are still being added.
Common to all luminaires is the glare-free light already mentioned, which is directed downwards and to the side on shades of various sizes in several levels. In addition, there are always different colored shade segments that give the light its very own character and effect. Despite this complex shade structure, changing a lamp is amazingly easy.
The lamp offered here dates from 1980 and is therefore an example of the further development of this icon of lamp design.
