Tobia Scarpa, the master glassmaker of Venini in Murano, developed the OCCHI technique in the late 1950s. There is hardly a more elaborate technique of glass processing. Several times the murines are heated and melted and the vitreous body is shaped. This process results in the slightly different shapes of the clear windows with the white bars. Of course, this technique is purely manual work and could only be made by specially trained glassmakers. VENINI, the most traditional manufactory in Murano, was the only manufacturer of these glasses.
