Industrial design in the GDR, a field that has received very little attention: Wrongly so, in our opinion. Here we from VEB NARVA Leuchtenbau Dresden show a typical work light of the time. The base plate has 4 holes to permanently screw the light on, as an alternative to the clamp that is also provided. The lamp is painted in a matt workshop gray typical of the time and shows few signs of wear. The rotary switch is located in the socket on the reflector. The lamp arm can be tilted and rotated using a ball joint in the lamp arm base. Lockable with large Bakelite wing nuts. Another joint was used in the upper area of the lamp arm for flexible adjustment of the reflector. The design can be described as simply functional and not intrusive. The black pressed material of the reflector and the gray paint contrast very subtly.
