Industrial design in the GDR, a field that has received very little attention: Wrongly so, in our opinion. Here we are showing a typical work light from VEB Zweckleuchtenbau Dresden. The base plate has 4 holes to permanently screw the light on, as an alternative to the clamp that is also provided. The lamp is painted in brown and beige, typical of the time, and shows almost no signs of wear. The original toggle switch is located in the Bakelite junction box at the bottom of the lamp arm. The lamp arm can be tilted and rotated around the spike on the base plate. Lockable with large Bakelite wing nuts. A piece of gooseneck was used in the upper area of the lamp arm for flexible adjustment of the reflector. The design can be described as simply functional and not intrusive.
