few tarces of wear. The beautiful and rare table fan designed by Peter Behrens for AEG arrived at our store hardly used. Designed in 1909, AEG has repeatedly revised the models. Here we offer the 2nd version. Our piece can be found on home appliance lists from 1915-1919 and was the mid-size table fan. Installed in the base is a controller with 3 permanent resistors to generate 3 speeds. The collector on the anchor shows almost no signs of wear, we have replaced the original graphite brushes, after cleaning and new grease in the lubricating bushes, the 100-year-old device runs like new again.

We offer an icon of modern industrial design here: a table fan that has been preserved in its original form, designed by Prof. Peter Behrens. The 100-year-old device could be purchased for 114 marks at the time, an average monthly wage around 1915 was around the same. So you can appreciate how luxurious such an object was at a time when only about 5% of households in Berlin were connected to the electricity grid, mostly only with light. Sockets and electrical household appliances did not appear until after the First World War. Peter Behrens, a visionary of his time, shaped the outward appearance of AEG and its products, an early example of "corporate identity" and the first industrial designer ever!
