In 1970 Robert Oberheim, from 1972 Deputy Head of Product Development, designed the combined slide viewer and slide projector. Formally in line with the D5 / D 6 devices by Dieter Rams, the D7 has a functional specialty: by turning the optics in the device, the slide can be viewed directly via the magnifying lens in the device. In addition, by rotating the lens, the light emitted can then be directed through the front lens to the wall projection.
