Inspired by the idyllic harbor town of Sciacca, port city on the Mediterranean in the province of Agrigento in the Sicily region of Italy, the local ceramist Marchese formed the colorful "PESCATORE" around 1955. The filigree and detail-loving ceramic figure is an eye-catcher, reinforced by the beautiful complementary contrast of orange and blue that makes you smile. The hardness and deprivations of the fisherman's existence find no expression in the humorous representation.
