with few signs of wear. The table clock and barometer set has been very well preserved. Both parts are in their original condition, the clock has an 8-day movement with winding and adjusting device from below, both with the keys included. The current pressure at the location can be set on the barometer so that the aneroid can reliably show the changes. An externally adjustable pointer is attached to read the tendency to the previous day. At the bottom of the barometer, between the words “Barometer” and “Aneroide”, there is the ligated signature from the designer's initial letters.

Joseph Antoine Jean Redier was a Parisian inventor and watchmaker who excelled in the field of watchmaking and scientific instruments. He has received several awards for his achievements. He was interested in technically complex, innovative solutions for barometers and clock making. The pieces presented here document his expertise and his technical implementation at the highest level. Interested collectors rarely see such a set on the market, and in good original condition as shown here.

Solid brass, fire-gilded, cut and faceted crystal glass, inscribed from reverse, mechanism in the base with “mysterieuse” drive, clock 8-day movement with escapement. Both parts are functional.
