about this Object:
Avant-garde design of the 1920s followed the expressionist style. Lamps made of porcelain shaped in this way are rather rare today. Here, a form of expressionism that follows more naturalistic forms is evident, while in "Metropolis" by Fritz Lang from 1927 a cubist form can be observed, which comes close to the machine theme of the film. Famous Expressionist architecture in Germany can also be seen in Potsdam with the Einstein Tower, an observatory created by Erich Mendelssohn in 1922.
